What is computer?

A computer is an electronic device that accepts data (input), processes it according to instructions (software), stores it, and produces results (output). It is essentially a powerful data processing system that converts raw data into information.

All digital computers, regardless of their size or type, perform five fundamental functions:
1      Input: Taking in raw data and instructions from users.
2     Storage: Storing data and instructions in memory for future use.
3     Processing: Performing computations and logical operations on the data.
4     Output: Generating results as useful information.
5     Control: Managing and coordinating all other functions.
  • Central Processing Unit (CPU):
The "brain" of the computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing all calculations.

    Memory (RAM):
    •    Random Access Memory is used for temporary storage of data and instructions that         the CPU is currently working with.
      Storage Devices:
  •   Devices like hard drives and SSDs are used for long-term storage of data and software.
  •
  • Input Devices:
These devices allow users to enter data into the computer, such as keyboards, mice, scanners, and microphones.

    Output Devices:
  • These devices display or present the processed information to the user, including monitors, printers, and speakers.
